Compared with how "normal" society functions and how "normal" people see and interact with the world on an everyday basis, I think having a focused and clear mind which is able to see through illusion and delusion, externally as well as internally, is no less than a completely revolutionary act, and the tools for this are no less than actual magical tools, in my mind.

Indeed. You weren't making this reference I'm sure but interesting in that what you've said is very much in tune with the ethos of the original fundamentals of drug free / straight edge culture in its incepton.

To some degree its aside from the aspect of 'magical tools in your mind' (but not entirely). Though the notion that possessing a "focused and clear mind which is able to see through illusion and delusion, externally as well as internally, is no less than a completely revolutionary act" is the very creed of straight edge culture. Its what originally drew me toward it and its what's drawing me back toward that lifestyle now.

yeah weird, I had never thought about that in relation to that subculture, and would probably never have done so but it makes sense. I never was attracted to straight edge culture because I think certain "drugs" do have validity when used/interacted with correctly but I definitely see how that would not be the case for others.
And I didn't mean magical tools "in my mind" but rather, these things are magical tools, in my mind (as in, in my opinion) Just making that clear.

hahah thanks for the clarification on that last line, it reads totally differently depending on which emphasis is used ;)
